Jill K. Therrien (she/her) is a Therapist, Educator, and Astrologer. She holds an MA in Counseling Psychology with emphasis on the Expressive Arts from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Jill is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the state of California (#110300), Michigan (#4101007422), and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist through the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA). She has been in a self apprenticeship to humanistic astrology for 20+ years, completed 360 hours of training in Personal Energetics Management, and holds a certificate in Somatic Embodiment & Regulation Strategies.

Jill has over 10 years of experience working with grief and complex relational trauma. She primarily works with adult individuals and couples (siblings, partners, spouses). She occasionally offers workshops and groups through community collaborations that center creativity and astrology as wellness tools.

Jill has a special interest in helping clients connect with their mind-body as a pathway toward understanding emotions and behaviors. This includes addressing nervous system regulation in relationships, tuning inward to the body’s interoception, and working with embodied approaches such as creativity, guided imagery, and somatic awareness to make new connections, resulting in new possibilities. Working from an integrative approach Jill uses DBT, Narrative, and Emotionally Focused therapeutic approaches to support the complex nature of managing mental health symptoms related to trauma.

As part of Jill’s offerings, she has the honor of supervising associate level therapists on their path toward licensure in California and consults with professionals in pursuit of their registration with IEATA. She has taught expressive arts approaches, theories, practices, and ethics in higher education at both the California Institute of Integral Studies and Lesley University. Her role as a supervisor and consultant brings together both her clinical and teaching skills.

Beyond her professional roles, Jill identifies a mixed race, two-spirit femme, artist, writer, mother, partner, and cherishes her connection with Earth and Sky. She has connected with art and astrology the majority of her life. Jill is a proud member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians (mud turtle clan) and has mixed European heritage as well. Jill was raised by Detroiters in the suburbs of Southeast Michigan and lived in Oakland, California for 15 years as she developed her practice. She currently resides in the occupied homelands of the Anishinaabe in Zikemzo Michigamii, commonly known as Kalamazoo, Michigan.
