Finding the right support takes time. The relationship is a large part of feeling safe and comfortable. The approach is also important. I highly recommend this article as a wonderful overview of the types of support out there and what might be right for you.

The Expressive Arts (EXA) belong to the lineage of creative therapies which includes drama, music, art, dance therapy. What is unique about EXA is the manner of which a trained therapist utilizes multiple forms of creative expression through a trans-modal process, meaning moving from one type to another. This approach opens up possibilities to connect with both hemispheres of the brain, as well as the primal regions that support regulation. My personal approach integrates visual art, sound, movement, drama, poetry, writing, metaphor, and guided imagery. What we choose to work with is always a collaboration.

For those interested in my psychotherapy offerings, I am currently working with individuals and couples as they cope with experiences of grief, loss, complex relational trauma, and manage mental health experiences related to these experiences such as anxiety, depression, self esteem, emotional regulation, and neurocomplexity.

Not at this time. As a marriage and family therapist I am trained to work with people from a systems perspective, recognizing the family system as a part of the individual experience.

My goal as a relational practitioner has always been to offer services that are not perpetuating systemic harm. I went into this profession as a calling to continue the work of my Ancestors who descend from the Mud-Turtle Clan (known as teacher-healers). As a white seeming person, I believe it is my responsibility to understand my social location, to be in a continuous process of humility, to acknowledge my privilege, to center non-white experiences, to deconstruct my understanding of systems, and do my grow awareness of the unconscious bias I carry. My primary concern for my clients is that they have access to wellness practices that are congruent with their needs on an intersectional, holistic level, so that all their identities are met with respect and care. Please start a conversation if you need more information.
